This Saturday as part of the action of Chelmsford Stakes Day at the Royal Randwick, a capacity field of 14 gallopers will take to the track in the $125,000 Group 3 Tramway Handicap (1400m).
An impressive list of horses will start in the 2010 Tramway Handicap including three runners dominating the pre-race betting markets Neeson, Centennial Park and Stryker.
Leading online bookmaker SportsBet have Joseph Pride’s Mossman gelding Neeson as the current $4.60 favourite despite the four-year-old drawing wide with barrier 11.
Neeson resumed racing in the Show Country Stakes at Warwick Farm a fortnight ago finishing fifth to Kenny’s World and should improve second-up.
The David Payne-trained Centennial Park and Chris Waller’s Stryker fill the next line of betting through SportsBet at $4.80.
Five-year-old Kiwi-bred gelding Centennial Park is coming off an eye-catching second in the Starlight Stakes and advantages from a good barrier two draw while four-year-old Stryker is also at short-odds after drawing the inside running with gate one.
Sacred Choice is the only other Tramway Handicap starter at single figure odds through SportsBet, the Choisir mare finishing third in the Show County last start.
Quality horses that could cause an upset and win at generous odds from SportsBet include Group 1 winner Sniper’s Bullet ($13) and Gai Waterhouse’s Herculian Prince ($16).
There will be lots of attention on the horse jumping from barrier four, as John O’Shea’s Jessicabeel resumes racing in the Tramway Handicap on way to a run in the 2010 Melbourne Cup.
Five-year-old Zabeel mare Jessicabeel took out the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) last start back in April and is currently the third-favourite to win this year’s Melbourne Cup at $17 through SportsBet.
O’Shea isn’t expecting a winning performance from Jessicabeel on Saturday, preparing her to peak later in the spring as reflected in her generous $41 odds for the Tramway.
The feature Randwick Races this Saturday are the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes and the Group 2 Furious Stakes, and as well as offering the best odds for the Tramway Quality, SportsBet also have some hot racing offers on these other events too!
