Jockey Tommy Berry believes Wild And Proud will be a key contender in the Group 3 Tramway Handicap at Warwick Farm racecourse tomorrow September 8, 2012.
Wild And Proud will be first-up in the 2012 Tramway Handicap after a winter spell following a successful autumn campaign.
The Snowland gelding won the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes at Rosehill in March before placing third in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes two starts later.
Wild And Proud has won three of his ten race starts and has earned more than $220,000 in prize money.
”There is nothing working better at our joint at the moment,” Berry said of Wild And Proud.
”He is meeting some very good horses but he is ready to go.”
Wild And Proud will have to come head to head with his stable mate Kontiki Park in the 2012 Tramway Handicap.
Trainer Gai Waterhouse appears to be leaning towards Kontiki Park to take the win in the race and evens predicts he could be headed for Group 1 Epsom Handicap success.
“He is underrated and has only improved since his last win,” Waterhouse said.
”He is shaping as one of my Epsom picks.”
Kontiki Park has won eight of his 28 race starts and has earned close to $550,000 in prize money.
The Thorn Park gelding won his first-up start this spring in the $85,000 Club NSW Spring Preview Handicap.
