Tagus Wins 2012 Tramway Handicap – Race Results

September 11th, 2012

Tagus has won the 2012 Tramway Handicap at Warwick Farm racecourse last Saturday.

The John Thompson-trained gelding claimed victory by a neck over Kontiki Park, who placed second, and Moment Of Change, who finished in third.

Tagus has now won 10 of his 44 race starts and has earned more than $535,000 in prize money.

The Encosta De Lago gelding was a shock winner of the 2012 Tramway Handicap after placing seventh in his past two Group race starts.

Tagus paid odds of $41 to win the 2012 Tramway Handicap at bookmaker.com.au.

Jockey Jim Cassidy rode Tagus to his latest win in the 2012 Tramway Handicap.

“This horse’s work was good during the week and I thought he was my best chance today.

“His run the other day was very good (in the Warwick Stakes) and he dropped back from 59 kilograms to 54. I thought by the last race I would be back to my best so it was nice.”

Prior to yesterday’s 2012 Tramway Handicap win, Tagus had not won a race since November, 2010, when he won the Listed Bundabery Distilling Co. Stakes on Melbourne Cup Day.
